The Michigan Wolverines have their first game in a little over a week on Aug. 30 versus New Mexico at Michigan Stadium, and now we know which players will be captains for the 2025 season.
- Fullback/Tight End Max Bredeson
- Offensive Guard Giovani El-Hadi
- Linebacker Ernest Hausmann
- Tight End Marlin Klein
- Edge Rusher Derrick Moore
- Safety Rod Moore
Michigan had four captains last season, and the last time they had six was in 2023, when they won the National Championship.
Every captain is a senior, and for players like
Bredeson, Moore, and El-Hadi, it’s their fifth collegiate season. Bredeson and Moore are also the first players to be captains in consecutive seasons since Mike Sainristil was in 2022 and ‘23.
All of these players will have key roles not just in the locker room, but on the field as well.
- While not a big receiving threat, Bredeson will contribute heavily as a blocker in Michigan’s run game.
- Sherrone Moore confirmed at Big Ten Media Day that El-Hadi will be a starter.
- Hausmann will be the quarterback of the defense and will have in-radio helmet communication with the coaching staff this fall.
- Klein will be Michigan’s TE1 and also be relied upon as a blocker. The Cologne, Germany product could have a breakout season with Colston Loveland now in the NFL.
- Derrick Moore has a chance to be one of the most formidable pass rushers in the nation and should greatly surpass his sack total of four from last season.
- Rod Moore is coming off an ACL injury that sidelined him the entire 2024 season. Hopefully, Moore will be ready to go by the season opener or shortly thereafter.
