Welcome to a stress-free NFL weekend, Browns fans!
Cleveland is still buzzing about that big victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night that put the Browns in sole possession of first place in the AFC North Division for the first time since November 9, 2014.
The Browns may be all alone at the top of the division for just another day, depending on the outcome of Cincinnati’s game against Jacksonville and Baltimore’s game against Tennessee, but we are living in heady times at the moment,
so enjoy it!
Because while 3-1 is cool, these are still the Browns (sorry about that, coach Monken!), which means a stressful weekend is lurking around every corner.
But, for now, kick back and enjoy the Cleveland Guardians first playoff game this afternoon, take in some college football, and ponder the possibilities if the Browns don’t turn into a pumpkin before the end of the month.
On to today’s edition of the Saturday Dawg Chow!
Dawgs By Nature
Update on Mason Graham’s knee injury for Browns (Chris Pokorny): The news is better than expected, but the Browns will still be without their top defensive lineman for a while.
Browns 2nd-quarter schedule lookahead (Jared Mueller): You have to like Cleveland’s chances over the next four games. Right?
Browns winning games because of the “And” needed in football (Jared Mueller): It may be players, not plays, that win games. But it is also about playing as a team.
Browns vs Steelers: Winners, losers as Cleveland uses defense, key plays to secure win (Barry Shuck): The defense feasted on Thursday night against Pittsburgh. But what is up with all the penalties?

Cleveland Browns
This Browns team is loud, unafraid and tired of losing (cleveland.com): They have definitely earned it through the first month of the season.
The Browns are 3-1. Don’t forget to thank Andre Szmyt (Terry Pluto): And to think people wanted to cut Szmyt after one bad outing as a rookie in 2025.
Andre Szmyt is answer at kicker Browns had sought since Phil Dawson (Beacon Journal): Dawson also had a rough start to his tenure with the Browns. Imagine if the Browns had gotten rid of him?
The Browns are winning with Deshaun Watson. Fans have to reckon with what that means (The Athletic): What it means is the Browns are 3-1 and in first place in the AFC North Division.
NFL
Are we seeing more NFL quarterback injuries than normal this season? (ESPN): Do you know who is not dealing with a quarterback injury for a change? Your first-place Cleveland Browns!
Atlanta mourns the loss of Falcons legend Jeff Van Note (atlantafalcons.com): Originally a linebacker, Van Note moved to center in 1970 and went on to miss only four games in an 18-year career.
Malik Willis makes the Dolphins’ rebuild unconventional. Will it work? (The Athletic): The early results indicate it will not.
The Steelers is the Steelers, and this is their new normal (Behind the Steel Curtain): It’s funny because it’s true.
