The Golden State Warriors tip off their home opener with tonight’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on ESPN and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State opened the season with an impressive 119–109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The stars showed
out in downtown LA, as Luka Dončić recorded a near triple-double with 43 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. However, the Warriors stayed in control thanks to Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, who combined for 54 points while going a perfect 24-of-24 from the free-throw line.
What to watch for tonight:
While Curry and Butler carried the scoring load on opening night, it was Jonathan Kuminga’s all-around performance that turned heads. He finished with 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three, adding nine rebounds, six assists, and strong defense throughout the night.
Kuminga appears to be taking the offseason criticism to heart, playing with the focus and versatility that fit the role Steve Kerr has long envisioned for him. If he can maintain this level of play against a tougher Nuggets team, he could become a major factor in the Warriors’ championship aspirations this season.
