Things have slowed down with the 2027 recruiting class following a hectic summer, but Steve Sarkisian and his staff are still evaluating their options at some positions.
On Monday, three-star Prattville (Ala.) linebacker Jason Crenshaw Jr. announced that he has received an offer from the Texas Longhorns. Crenshaw Jr. committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in June.
Crenshaw pledged to Georgia Tech since the summer an official visit to Atlanta and another trip to North Carolina. The Longhorns currently do not have a linebacker commit for the current cycle, and this offer certainly signals that they are still looking over senior film of prospects all over the country and remaining patient with their approach.
It appears Crenshaw’s recruitment is beginning to pick up. Along with Texas, programs like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State have all recently been in touch with him recently. Georgia Tech looks like it will have a fight on its hands heading towards December.
With Crenshaw only taking a couple official visits in the summer, there is still a chance that more visits could be on table. The important data to look for next will be if Texas can get him to Austin for a visit to make the extension of an offer more real.
Crenshaw is off to a strong start for his senior season, as he has already tallied 31 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, and scored two touchdowns. A consensus three-star prospect, Crenshaw is ranked as the No. 879 player nationally and the No. 71 linebacker in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
