The Las Vegas Raiders are on a bye week and won’t be playing a game on Sunday. During the team’s time away, there have been plenty of trade rumors flying around the media. The main culprit is Jakobi Meyers,
who ESPN reported. Maxx Crosby is another player whose name has been floating around social media as a potential target for other teams.
Trading a centerpiece player like Crosby will put the Raiders in full rebuild mode. After a 2-5 start and their chances at a winning system crippling, adding draft picks for the future becomes enticing. This isn’t in the mind of the Raiders franchise, as they quickly shut down the rumors this week.
During the fall owners meeting, Mark Davis met with the media for the first time since the season started. He gave his thoughts on the trade rumors and what Crosby means to the organization.
“I don’t know how many times I’ve got to say it,” Davis said of the trade rumors surrounding Crosby, per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. “It’s really hard to keep getting asked the same question every month or week or whatever when the answer’s going to stay the same. I don’t know why anybody would think I’d change my mind or the organization would.”
Davis knows what Crosby means to the football team and just gave him an extension this offseason. He is expecting to be patient with the new regime and hoping for a turnaround. The Raiders owner wants his All-Pro edge rusher to be a part of the future.
