With the NFL draft kicking off tomorrow evening, I asked the following question this past week:
What are your favorite players that you hope our Miami Dolphins take a solid look at and possibly draft at the top of this year’s NFL draft, and why? Feel free to just give us your pick or picks for the first round, or go as deep as you wish.
Below are some of your thoughts and answers-
finfanfromsiam kicks off his list with a stud safety.
Downs, Bain, Styles, Delane, Sadiq
Molly Polly II kicks off the list
with a wideout and lists Styles, who I see no chance of falling to Miami, but stranger things have happened.
Maybe these are longshot scenarios but wth…..
WR- BrazzellDE-Faulk
DB- Delane or McCoy
LB-Styles
QB- Beck
JKBMia kicks off with a big need for the Phins, secondary help!
So many different variations with how many needs we have.
Downs + Hood/Johnson to build a scary secondary.
Delane/EMW could do the same.
Tate/Sadiq + Miller could give the offense cornerstones for years to come at prime positions.
Maui + Mesidor keeps the local products in town and builds the trenches in a big way.
So many ways this can go well, and there shouldn’t be that many ways to screw it up.
I have faith in JES to crush this draft and turn the corner.
Alley Gator is high on a local guy.
I think Tyson and McCoy clearing injury concerns means there’s 12 blue chippers now with us picking 11th. At that point favorites are Bain and Downs falling to us. Bain because I always want that dominant DE/Edge guy, like I wanted Abdul Carter last year. Downs because our defensive backfield has been so weak for seems so long that a dominant safety that actually runs the defense on the field (green dot) is what fit Hafley’s defense in Green Bay, and I want our defense to match our coach.
The Earl is really high on the versatile safety out of Oregon.
I’ve liked Downs & Delane for a while, but those guys are blue chippers. Here are some favorites for each day.
Day 1: SAF Dillon Thieneman – he may be my favorite player in this draft. He’s got elite athleticism, work ethic, mental make-up, and the tape is good too. He may be a better tackler than Downs. I’d take him at 11 without thinking twice about it.
Day 2: CB D’Angelo Ponds – he’s a DAWG. He’s not the biggest, but he plays bigger than his stature.
Day 3: CB Tacario Davis – 6’4″ CB with 4.4 speed, long arms, and fits the scheme. I’ve seen a little tape on him and I think he’d be a great addition.
Honorable mention: WR Deion Burks – discount Tyreek Hill IMO. He’d be an upgrade over Atwell and with Willis’ penchant for throwing deep, he’d make a great vertical WR.
FlyerFinFan is all for taking Bain or BPA.
It’s not a matter of who I like it’s what would work out best for the Fins. Ideally edge falls to 11 which is possibly Bain that would be killer. Then you could go BPA at 30 either RT, CB, S, WR or TE. Pick the positions that you don’t get in the first round.
Now if Bain doesn’t fall then none of those positions above would be terrible although must be a star player if a star doesn’t fall trade back if possible. That’s all that I figured out after a million mocks.
Phoenix6 lays out his ideal first round for the Dolphins.
At #11: WR Lemon or CB Hood or DE Faulk or DT P Woods.
If a top 10 doesn’t drop.
At #30: DE Z Young or WR C Brazzell II or CB C Johnson.
If they’re available.
Reid_305 took us into the second round with his preferred picks.
11: Downs (who I want the most), Delane, Maui, Lemon, Sadiq
30: Cisse, Hood, EMW, DT from Ohio State (McDonald?)
43: Haulcy (if we miss out on Downs & EMW), Ponds, Chris Johnson
NeenerWhacker points out that the top tier of talent thins out significantly after around pick 10 in this year’s draft.
Styles and Downs are my favorite 2 players in the draft. Unfortunately both probably just out of reach.
It’s unfortunate, we currently sit at 11 and 30… it seems like those selections are just outside of the talent ‘waves’ in the draft
PA phinphan really wants some secondary help!
Pick 11: Downs/Delane/Thieneman
Pick 30: Mesidor/Hood (if no Delane)/EMW (if Delane)
It’s really hard to say because you never know how the draft will unfold. I hope they can go BPA and not have too reach for any picks.
The prevailing belief among the Dolphins faithful seems to be that the guys we really want will likely be gone by pick 11. I, for one, am not against trading down to add to the list of picks in 2027, when the draft is supposed to be much deeper at the top. I guess we will all see where this thing is going by the end of round one tomorrow evening. Please be sure to join us for our live coverage of the 2026 NFL Draft tomorrow evening. Thank you again to each of you who took the time to add to our question of the day post.
