Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is in the enviable position of leading a team into the Champions League against Real Madrid next week.
However, the Belgian manager is in the unenviable spot of having to keep his team fully focused and motivated to face SC Freiburg this weekend before even thing about that matchup vs. Los Blancos.
“As a coach, you have to make it clear that Freiburg is the priority. And that’s all we need to talk about today. We won’t do anything new; it’s what got us into
this position – still in all competitions, using the entire squad, and we’ll do it all the same way again. We’ll see what decisions we make tomorrow. If a player feels something and you have to play Champions League three days later – it’s normal to make decisions, especially if you’ve always trusted the squad. I try to take in the information and make decisions,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For the most part, Kompany has managed thiese situations extremely well. “Getaway” games and “Look Ahead” games are a legitimate problem for many teams, but Bayern Munich is a mature and focused group.
This weekend, fans might find out just how mature and focused the squad really is this season.
