This week’s Raw delivered strong TV heading into Backlash, WWE’s next premium live event on Saturday. Jacob Fatu decimated Roman Reigns, while Asuka left her former protégé, Iyo Sky, misty-eyed.
All great stuff, for sure.
But let’s talk about Oba Femi and Bron Breakker running through Raw like two bulls in a china shop.
Starting with “The Ruler,” Otis answered Femi’s open challenge and barely left with his head intact. After a pair of collisions that saw neither man fall, Otis ducked a clothesline,
only to get leveled by a flying uppercut from Femi that nearly separated his soul from his body.
Almost in unison, Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and the packed crowd at Omaha’s CHI Health Center erupted at a hit worthy of a SportsCenter Top 10. Femi followed by tossing the 330-plus-pound Otis like a pizza before putting him away with Fall From Grace.
Just before Femi’s highlight reel, Bron Breakker, in the previous segment, capped off his night of brutality the way it began — by spearing Seth Rollins in half.
Somehow, that wasn’t the peak of his fury.
After a match involving Austin Theory and Joe Hendry spilled into chaos with Theory, Logan Paul, and the Street Profits, Breakker stormed in to back his Vision brethren. When Montez Ford tried to cut him off, Breakker snatched him and hurled grown-ass Ford to the floor like he was tossing hay in a barn.
God. Damn.
Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that after Breakker wrecked Rollins earlier in the show, a fan could be heard asking whether Breakker was coming out for Oba.
Clearly, it’s way too soon for that matchup. But when it does happen? Say it with me now:
HOLY SHIT!
Overall, Monday’s Raw was a fun two-plus hours, boosted by a hot crowd that was into just about everything — especially the power and violence of two men poised to help lead WWE into the next decade.
