Harry Kane enjoyed an astounding 2025/26 campaign; the Englishman hit a career-best 61 goals across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and UEFA Champions League. His record-shattering year helped Bayern Munich secure a domestic treble, narrowly missing out of European glory after a gut-wrenching loss to PSG in the Semifinals of the Champions League.
Kane’s 36-goal haul in the Bundesliga earned him his second European Golden Shoe award for Bayern, emulating his debut season for Die
Rekordmeister. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland finished in second, a staggering 9 goals behind, while Los Blancos’ Kylian Mbappé secured third spot.
Congratulations have poured in from around the globe after the Three Lions captain was officially awarded the 2025/26 European Golden Shoe — and some even started campaigning for Kane to win the Ballon d’Or.
The acknowledgement from some of the greatest to play the game is a testament to Kane’s reverence. In a similar vein to Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, you can love the Bayern striker or you can hate him, but you simply cannot deny his class.
Kane has to be the shoe-in to win football’s most coveted individual award. No one comes close to matching his individual brilliance while simultaneously earning silverware. Although, Bayern are no strangers to having their players robbed of Ballon d’Or titles. Let’s hope Kane is the one to break the cycle.
