After a week on cloud nine, the Syracuse Orange football team (and our Go Bowling Military Bowl O’Meter) came crashing back down to earth last weekend.
A 38-3 drubbing to Duke at home definitely wasn’t
what the doctor ordered, but the good news is the show must continue. On the bright side, our meter is still in decent shape with the Orange sitting at 3-2 entering October:

Rickie Collins and company face another uphill battle, this time on the road in Dallas against SMU. We’re not losing faith just yet, and the Military Bowl is still firmly in our sights with seven regular-season games remaining.
Here’s where the “experts” project the Orange in postseason play after Week 5:
ESPN – Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura
Schlabach – Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs Memphis Tigers
Quite the downgrade from last week’s Gator Bowl against Alabama projection, but at least someone’s optimistic for six wins.
Bonagura – No bowl
From the Mayo Bowl to nothing. Virginia‘s upset of Florida State catapulted the Cavaliers over the Orange in this week’s Mayo Dump prediction.
No bowl
CFN’s been high on SU all season until now. Similar to ESPN, last week’s projection of the Mayo Bowl is as good as gone (for now).
Birmingham Bowl vs Mississippi State Bulldogs
This is an odd one, but I’m not opposed. After excluding Syracuse from Bowl Season after the win at Clemson, the Orange somehow made the jump into postseason play following last Saturday’s blowout loss.
No bowl
Still no love from SI, as we’ve seen throughout the season. If Fran Brown’s crew can steal one of the remaining road games, expect this prediction to change.
