On Saturday, the Chargers announced that they are placing starting defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games as he continues to recover from a groin
injury he sustained against the Commanders in Week Five.
The Chargers also sign offensive tackle Bobby Hart from the practice squad to the active roster in preparation that he will start at right tackle against the Dolphins. In two corresponding moves, the team elevated both running back Nyheim Miller-Hines and offensive tackle David Sharpe to the game day roster.
The expectation is that Hassan Haskins will be the starting running back for the Chargers with Kimani Vidal playing in a RB1b role in the team’s first game since Omarion Hampton was placed on IR with an ankle injury. Miller-Hines could also figure into some snaps and potentially as a returner.
Kick return and punt return duties has been held by Haskins and wideout KeAndre Lambert-Smith, respectively, since Derius Davis has been sidelined but neither have done enough to warrant keeping their jobs over a veteran like Miller-Hines (despite the preseason inconsistency).
