On Thursday Night Football, the Cincinnati Bengals pulled a bit of an upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joe Flacco won the duel of old quarterbacks, leading the Bengals to a 33-31 win over Aaron Rodgers
and the Steelers despite Pittsburgh being favored on the road by 5.5 points.
Here at APC, a few of us made our week 7 picks before Thursday’s game, correctly picking the Bengals to cover that spread but failing to go with them for the outright win.
Of course, that was just the first of many games on the NFL schedule this week. The Green Bay Packers’ game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon is the Packers’ longest road trip of the season, and it comes against a 2-4 Cardinals team that has kept all of their games close. In fact, all six of Arizona’s games this season have been decided by seven points or fewer, with their last four games all being losses by four or fewer points.
With the Packers currently installed as 6.5-point favorites, the sportsbooks appear to believe that the Packers have a good chance of being the first team to beat the Cardinals by a touchdown or more this season. But will they do so? Our contributors say yes, picking the Packers to win outright and to cover.
Check out our picks for that game and all of the other contests on the schedule for this week.
