The Gridiron Dores are 7-1, and have proved they can win big, win pretty, and now after barely escaping Missourah (spits) on the backs of their strong defense, have finally proved they can win ugly. That’s
a good thing, as this is what we’re up against today:

Well, Arch Manning and his scrambled head remembered to say “Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV” in time to get cleared for this game. You know what that means? No backup QB curse (at least for the start of the game)!
Other than that, if you removed the names and histories of the schools, explain how this game is any different than last week against Missourah (spits)? Both have strong defenses that will pose a challenge to our—and any—offense. Both have explosive athletes at the skill positions, but problems getting them the ball (though Missourah—spits—has the better RB).
Frankly, the only observable difference is this game is in Austin instead of Nashville. 6th Street instead of Broadway will swing betting lines 3 points, so effectively, Vegas thinks this is a coin flip. Oh, and just like the Dallas Cowboys, Tejas Long Fedora fans bet with their hearts more than their brains—and bet often and in volume—so that’ll nudge the line at least another three points. You see what I’m getting at here, right?
The Pick: Vanderbilt 24, Tejas Long Fedoras 20.
The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Mr. Freeze nearly got himself fired last week. Let’s have him go full Tuberville and give me The Jamal Mashburn Wedding Jerseys (+10.5) in a game so horrible, it ends with The War Tigers letting the clock run out or something before getting off the snap for a last second FG attempt. That and give me Clanga (+4.5) finally getting a conference win over Coach Road Rash.

This game is rinse and repeat of last week except Texas has a struggling offensive line, and the only part of their offense that sorta works is the passing game. Arch Manning may be questionable, but some “insider” info from Texas is that Caldwell may be better suited to play behind that struggling line. It could be wishful thinking on their part.
Texas’s offense likely continues to sputter against a resurgent Vanderbilt defense. The determining factor will be if Pavia and the offense can find their footing against a defense that might be even better than Missouri’s. I think they will. Those struggles will have players and coaches determined to make a statement. Still, it will be a battle.
The Pick: Vanderbilt 24, Texas 10
The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Uh. Do I have to? I guess I picked us. Screw it. Let’s go Sooners over Vols. Bad day to be a UT.
