According to a report from Sky Germany, there is positive news for Bayern Munich ahead of the trip to Schalke 04 — Jamal Musiala is set to return to the matchday squad.
After suffering two collapses on the field and subsequently having his medication adjusted, Musiala has taken another important step in his return to competitive football. Sky Sport reports that the 23-year-old will be available for Bayern Munich’s away match against Schalke 04.
Vincent Kompany had cautioned earlier on Friday that he
wanted to see how Musiala handled the final training session before making the ultimate decision. That session has apparently provided the answer Bayern Munich were hoping for.
Musiala is back:
SKY SPORT EXCLUSIVE! 🚨 After his two collapses on the field and the adjustment of his medication, Jamal Musiala is returning to the matchday squad for the away game against Schalke 04. 😍
↪️ Kompany had said at today’s press conference that he wanted to factor in the final training session for the ultimate decision. Now the positive news: Jamal is back. 👋
That does not necessarily mean we will see him immediately thrown into the starting XI. Given everything the attacker has been through, Bayern Munich will presumably take a cautious approach to his return and manage his minutes carefully. Still, simply seeing Musiala back around the squad represents a hugely encouraging development.
His return gives Kompany another elite attacking option while allowing Musiala to gradually rebuild his match fitness and rhythm with the first team. After such a difficult period, getting back into a matchday squad is an important milestone. Now, Bayern Munich supporters can finally look forward to seeing one of the club’s most gifted players back on the pitch.
