After Travis Scott’s Elimination Chamber angle with Cody Rhodes, The Rock, and John Cena, fans were are least intrigued if not outright excited about the hip-hop superstar’s role in WWE going forward. That continued, even as it became pretty clear that Scott’s odd, unexplained appearance at WrestleMania 41 was the last we’d see of the Astroworld hitmaker in the angle.
WWE’s clearly moved on from whatever they had planned for Scott (and Rock) in the story of Cena’s retirement year, and/or Cody Rhodes’
current WWE title run. Fans and industry observers still want to know what happened, though. Chris Van Vliet tried to get an answer from Cena on Insight recently and was firmly shut down by the beneficiary of Scott’s on-screen actions. Cena said:
“Who cares? It doesn’t matter. We can talk about what could have been until the cows come home. And I think that’s what’s great about the people who are left standing. Certainly me and Cody. What’s the change? this? All right, let’s go. I don’t dwell for one second on what could have been…”
Logan Paul, who at one point was rumored to be teaming with Cena and Scott to take on Rhodes, and Jimmy & Jey Uso at Money in the Bank, had no such qualms when talking about what happened between Trav and WWE. He explained to his guest Joe Budden on the latest Impaulsive:
“I was very excited, obviously, for him [Scott] to enter the WWE, and we were supposed to team up with one other person. It was supposed to be three-on-three, and the day that it was supposed to be announced, he didn’t show up.
“I think what happened is, my guess, he probably realized at some point that it’s really physically demanding, really hard and a lot of work. It’s probably too much commitment for someone who is a rock star of his caliber. Like, Bad Bunny loves it and put in the time and became a good wrestler.
“Wrestling is a lot about navigating pain. It hurts, and I think at some point, Travis probably realized it’s pretty hard. I would like to see him make a real run at it, but yeah, I think that’s what happened.”
It’s presented as a theory, but it also lines up with much of what we’ve heard went down between Scott and WWE.
Say what you will about Paul, it’s clear he’s “put in the time” and isn’t afraid of the aches, pains, and worse that come from performing in a wrestling ring. Travis Scott seemed to like to dish it out, but if Logan’s right… we guess he couldn’t take it.
