There was a lot on the line in the Cleveland Browns Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it unfortunately did not go Cleveland’s way. It would’ve been a huge opportunity to assert their dominance in the AFC North, but the team instead fell to 5-3.
It was never really close, and the final score of 27-6 was disappointing. One of the biggest factors in the matchup was the Steelers’ ability to get pressure on Deshaun Watson. Watson struggled to escape Pittsburgh’s pass rush and was sacked
eight times on the day. Taking that many sacks makes it incredibly difficult to get anything going offensively. The sacks weren’t entirely Watson’s fault. The offensive line really struggled in this matchup and showed their weaknesses.
As many expected, the Browns’ defense struggled to stop the run in this game, allowing 200 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Teams will continue to exploit this part of Cleveland’s defense if they don’t improve. AFC North opponents will always bring a physical style of play, and if the Browns want a chance to win the division, they will need to match that physicality on defense.
