UFC White House is less than a week away.
The event will take place on the South Lawn in Washington, DC, and is expected to be held regardless of weather — with the exception of lightning. Current forecasts call for partly cloudy skies with high heat and humidity and “a slight risk of pop-up thunderstorms.” The UFC White House fight card (see it here) doesn’t get underway until 8 p.m. ET so by then, some of the heat will have subsided.
As for the lightning … well, that’s another case entirely.
Even
if UFC White House clears the weather hurdle, it must still contend with a federal lawsuit filed earlier this week in an attempt to halt the “deeply corrupt” event. Considering the major players behind this weekend’s extravaganza, I would say the card is at greater risk from lightning than anything a court has to say, and it appears the oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag agree.

“I would say, light to maybe moderate rain, we will try to continue to move forward and conclude the event,” UFC Executive Producer, Craig Borsari, told Harvey Leonard. “Anything beyond that, whether it’s increased winds or high winds – we clearly need to shut down if lightning is within eight miles of the Octagon.”
If lightning does strike, the CLAW will probably be the first thing it hits.
