Welcome back to another round of Reacts Surveys. This week we have just one question for you. Before you get to that, please remember to sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
So far in this transfer portal season, MSU has 26 new names that have committed to playing in Green & White in 2026. This includes a former Spartan, CB Charles Brantley. In addition to those names, there are two players who removed their names from the portal to stay in East Lansing, WR Chrishon McCray and
OL Rustin Young.
In this piece, we are going to mention the new players that we think are the highlights of the transfer class thus far and give a little info on those players. At the end, we are going to ask for you to grade the class as a whole to this point.
We begin with the defensive side of the ball because, in our opinion, there is less to talk about on that side. Tre Bell played CB for Iowa State in 2025 and was at FCS program Lindenwood for 2 years before that. He will have one year of eligibility remaining. MSU had the inside lane in this recruitment as his position coach at ISU, Hank Poteat, is MSU’s new CB coach. In his one year as a cyclone, Bell recorded 36 tackles, 4 TFLs, 2 INTs, 3 PBUs, and 1 forced fumble. Aside from the fact he is one of the few major conference players we are getting, Bell has shown the ability to be a positive defender against both run and pass. He has a great chance to start for MSU next season.
Moving over to the offensive side of the ball, we will go into 2026 with an incumbent starter at QB in Alessio Milivojevic. That said, we can’t help but be intrigued by QB Cam Fancher. Fancher actually has three prior stops, having started at Marshall for 3 seasons, including a redshirt, and then was at Florida Atlantic in 2024 where he won the starting job and was even made a team captain. In the ninth game of that season, he went down with a clavicle injury and missed the remainder of that year. He then went to Central Florida, but only played three games, starting two, as he once again was bit by the injury bug. He received a medical redshirt to retain one year of eligibility. Some of you may remember that first game of 2024 when MSU played Fancher’s FAU Owls. While only throwing for 116 yards, Fancher did have some success running against us to the tune of 67 more. For his 9-game season with FAU, he had over 1,500 in the air and 365 on the ground. Assuming he is fully healthy when spring practice begins, he has a chance to compete for QB2 and should provide MSU with some insurance in case something happens to Alessio.
Michigan State is gaining a pair of big guys for the offensive line that should be starters next year. The first one is a pedigree trencher. The son of Detroit Lions OL coach Hank Fraley, Trent Fraley comes from FCS power North Dakota State where he was a part of the 2024 FCS Championship team. Oh, and he was at Marshall before 2024 where he was a teammate of Cam Fancher. For the 2025 season, Fraley was named the Rimington Award winner as FCS’ top center. That should be all you need to know on him.
The second O-lineman we are excited about is Ben Murawski, who was the first player to commit to MSU in this window. Murawski was the starting LT for UConn last year and ranks as On3’s #13 OT in the portal. He has played his entire career for UConn and is looking for a step up in competition for his final season of eligibility. With Stanton Ramil off to Auburn, MSU has a major need at LT, and Murawski may even be a step up there, at least according to On3.
Lastly, we have another guy from Storrs, CT. RB Cam Edwards is going from one basketball power to another where he will help fill the void in the running backs room. In 2025 for the Huskies, rushed for 1,240 yards on a 5.9 average to go with 15 TDs. He had six 100-yard games last year, including a 194er against Ball State. Here’s a video of his highlights for your viewing enjoyment:
So that is what we are excited about. Not to say none of the other guys are worth mentioning, but those were our top picks. How bout you? Any other names you are particularly excited about? And what grade are you giving this class?
