There may not be an official date or location for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s boxing super fight, but according to “Gypsy King” the long-awaited heavyweight clash has finally been settled courtesy of none other than UFC CEO Dana White.
Guess Fury’s recent time limit has been hit.
It’s no secret that there’s been massive concern that Fury and Joshua won’t get across the finish line. Both sides have had difficulties coming to agreement on both money and a location for the fight. Fury has claimed
that Joshua and lead manager, Eddie Hearn, are trying to get paid more to move the fight to American to appease Turki Alalshikh, who is desperate to air the boxing superfight on Netflix. It seems like things should have been easy to work out seeing as there’s enough meat on the bone for everyone, but that hasn’t been the case.
White, who is involved from a promoter’s standpoint, has been trying his best to assist in making the fight a reality. The only problem is White’s public feud with Hearn, which has caused more confusion as to White’s actual involvement. If the promoters can’t even work things out how will the fighters themselves?
Luckily, it appears things are finally moving in the right direction. On Friday, Fury took to social media to provide an update to fight fans and revealed that White helped push the super fight “over the line.” Fury had a lot of praise for White for his involvement and ability to navigate the stagnant waters.
“Before I forget, I’d just like to thank Dana White for making this fight happen, making this deal happen with Netflix and getting it all over the line,” said Fury on Instagram Stories (via MMA Fighting). “You did an amazing job. Even if Eddie’s a little jealous f—ker and hasn’t got the guts to come out and say he had nothing to do with it, I’m a man and I can give another man respect for doing something great that Eddie and all these men tried to do for years and could never do, so thank you very much, Dana, you’re an absolute legend.
“One of the best promoters in the world, in my opinion, and all-around top guy, and I can’t wait to see you at the press conference on special invitation from ‘The Gypsy King’ and yeah, would love to have a beer with you one of the days, brother.”
