Another day of EuroBasket, another fantastic performance by Lauri Markkanen. Against Montenegro, Markakenn put up more impressive numbers with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Markkanen is the focal point of the Finland offense and it’s paying huge dividends. His efficiency is obviously back with his shooting and he’s looking dominant
near the basket. This dunk was absolutely filthy!
Markkanen must be considered a top candidate for EuroBasket MVP due to his level of play. This tournament, he’s putting up bonkers numbers. In three Eurobasket games, he’s averaging 32.3 points and 7 rebounds in just 29 minutes per game. There will be other European stars competing for it, including Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, but there’s no question he deserves a long look.
Finland will face a tough opponent in Lithuania, led by Jonas Valanciunas. Valanciunas is averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds in the tournament, but something about the Euro game lifts his game to another level. This tournament, he’s shooting 66% from the field and has given a lot of team fits in the past.
