The Miami Dolphins have released their first “unofficial” depth chart of the year. The team is preparing for its trip to Washington, DC, where it will hold a joint practice with the Washington Commanders on Wednesday before facing the Commanders in Preseason Week 1 on Friday. The unofficial depth chart will feature plenty of changes between now and the final roster cuts on August 30, but it does give us an early snap shot of how the coaches are feeling about the roster this year.

Miami Dolphins Offensive Depth Chart
- Wide receiver is interesting, especially with Tutu Atwell already sliding down the depth chart and Caleb Douglas listed as a starter already. Could a third-round pick be locked into the top spot?
- Most of the rest of the starters seem locked in with little competition indicated on the opening depth chart.
- Caedan Wallace, who was just acquired in a trade from the New England Patriots, is listed at both right guard and right tackle, battle for a depth role in both positions.
Miami Dolphins Defensive Depth Chart
- The defense has several position battles listed, including at starting positions. At defensive tackle, Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips are in a fight for the top spot next to Zach Sieler. Inside linebacker has rookie Jacob Rodriguez battling with Tyrel Dodson for one of three spots in the starting lineup. Dodson being challenged is a good thing, though maybe a little surprising as preseason week one is starting. Will the veteran hold on to the role or will the rookie push him out?
- Rookies are also listed as the starters at the third inside linebacker position, where Louis Moore has the nod over Willie Gay, Jr., and Chris Johnson has the top spot as the nickel cornerback. Moore is also a factor in the edge rusher discussion, which could be a sign that Miami is looking to have three pass rushers, two defensive ends and a linebacker, on the field.
- Johnson will likely slide outside opposite Brents when the Dolphins move to a linebacker-heavy, two-cornerback formation.
- Rookie Kyle Louis is battle with Ronnie Harrison, Jr., for the second-string position behind All Pro Jordyn Brooks.
- Rookie Max Llewellyn, a seventh-round pick, is listed as a third-string edge rusher, which is not unexpected – but when he is listed ahead of fourth-string Cameron Goode, it might be a sign that Goode, a 2022 seventh-round pick for the team and consistent practice squad/depth player since, might be nearing the end of his Dolphins tenure.

Miami Dolphins special teams depth chart
- There was a position battle for the kicker position until this week when Zane Gonzalez landed on injured reserve. Everything seems to be locked in for the most part with the kicking/punting units.
- Malik Washington working as the kick and punt returner makes sense. Wright ass the second-team kick returner seems pretty straight forward as well.
- The punt returners behind Washington will come down to who can make an impact and stick to the roster.
