The Cleveland Browns had a decisive victory last week, but their offense still needs to show vast improvement to be considered a contender. That makes for a clean sweep in predictions of people picking the Patriots this week, coupled with the fact that the Browns are also winless on the road.
Here is what the national media is saying about the Week 8 game between the Browns and Patriots:
CBS Sports (Pete Prisco) – Patriots 24, Browns 14
The Patriots have won three straight on the road to take over first place in the AFC East. They now get a Cleveland
team that doesn’t do a ton on offense. The Cleveland defense is a challenge, but Drake Maye will do enough to win this one for the Patriots.
CBS Sports (John Breech) – Patriots 20, Browns 17
Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) – Patriots 24, Browns 19
The Browns can cause a few defensive problems for Drake Maye but they just don’t play as well overall away from Cleveland. The Patriots are feeling their offense rolling and their defense started to make more big plays last week on the road at Tennessee. This is a little bit more of an offensive grind, but the job gets done.
Sporting News (Bill Bender) – Patriots 22, Browns 16
The Browns are 0-3 S/U on the road this season, and they have lost those games by an average of 20.7 points per game. New England is 3-1 S/U and 3-1 ATS as a home favorite. Drake Maye has a 78.1 completion percentage through a four-game winning streak. The Browns have a total of three sacks in those losses. Will that change here?
