TNA’s biggest show of the year is here. Bound For Glory is loaded with five title matches, the Hardys in Falls Count Anywhere, the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, Max Caster answering an open challenge, and more. Let’s break down the card with predictions for each bout.
Bound For Glory emanates from Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. PPV start time is 4:30 pm ET. The pre-show at 4 pm ET features the Hall of Fame inductions for ODB, Konnan, and Amazing Red. Lockdown can be viewed through TNA+ and other PPV providers.
TNA BOUND FOR GLORY PREDICTIONS
TNA World Championship: Nic Nemeth (c) vs. Leon Slater
Josh Jagler: I’m a huge Dolph Ziggler/Nic Nemeth mark from way back, and I’ve actually been enjoying his TNA World Title reign. But the bottom line is that Nic is literally more than twice Leon’s age. (46 to 22). People picking Nemeth will say Leon’s young and will be a world champion eventually, but my pushback is, “Why wait?” Pick: Leon Slater
Sean Rueter: Losing means he’s gone, but winning doesn’t mean he’s staying long. The Youngest in Charge can start showing up in NXT more with the belt before finally making the move to WWE, and maybe even breathe some more life into the partnership in the process. Pick: Leon Slater
Manolo H. Pizzazz: No need to delay crowning Slater as world champion. TNA has a tendency of putting up a hurdle nobody wants to stop the hot babyface from winning the top prize. Don’t get cute. Give the people what they want. Pick: Leon Slater
Falls Count Anywhere: Hardys vs. Syx
Josh Jagler: TNA has a chance to do the most TNA thing and have the Hard Boys win here, completely undercutting any sort of legitimacy Shaw and Sawyer could build. I think we’re about to see Syx add another member or two, with former Bo Dallas and Erick Rowan joining them, and the Bound for Glory stipulation makes that easy. Pick: Syx
Sean Rueter: How many weird spellings of “six” can we come up with? That should be more interesting than the outcome, because beating Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer here be really dumb. Pick: Syx
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Syx wants to kill Matt and Jeff. The Hardys are unkillable. Dipso fatso, the Hardys win even if they lose the match. Seriously though, I think the Hardys can win without burying Syx if Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw are more concerned about inflicting pain than making pins. Pick: Hardys
TNA Knockouts Championship: Xia Brookside (c) vs. Indi Hartwell with Mickie James as special guest referee
Josh Jagler: Indi Hartwell has been on the babyface side of a vindictive heel authority figure for months, and ending that with her being crowned champion at BFG feels fitting. I think Daria Rae is still the X-factor here and finds a way to try to screw Indi out of the title, but somehow, some way, Indi perseveres through and wins it. Pick: Indi Hartwell
Sean Rueter: Hardcore Country has to be here to ensure our hero finally wins the big one, right? I also don’t know who else Brookside would face if she retained. Pick: Indi Hartwell
Manolo H. Pizzazz: I’m tempted to pick Brookside. She’s good as an unlikable heel. Daria Rae could hatch a plan to interfere. Mickie has been known to go buck wild as referee, so chaos could favor Brookside. Hartwell deserves to be champion at some point. If not here, then when? It might have to wait for Zoey Serrano to get a run, so Hartwell can knock off her enemy. If Serrano wins the title, then she would likely take it off a babyface who beats Brookside. That’s too long to wait. Pick: Indi Hartwell
TNA International Championship: Mustafa Ali (c) vs. Jason Hotch vs. John Skyler vs. Agent Zero
Josh Jagler: This story has been one of my favorites in all of wrestling over the last few weeks/months. The twist of Tasha and Agent Zero breaking away from Order Four on Impact last week adds to an already intriguing dynamic among these four cats. I think it’s time Mustafa moves up the card a bit, possibly for a TNA World Title program with Leon Slater. I’d also like to see the Great Hands, with Mila Moore in their corner, take a run at the tag team division. That leaves Agent Zero with Tasha as his manager. Several mid-card babyfaces could be good opponents for him as International Champ. Pick: Agent Zero
Sean Rueter: Fun fact… don’t need any buzz for this to be a BFG match I’ll definitely be watching in full at regular speed. And even though the champ is a big reason why, I think TNA is gonna keep him in this spot for a while longer. Pick: Mustafa Ali
Manolo H. Pizzazz: In the breakup of Order 4, I think about who has the most to lose. Ali will be fine, and he should be elevated to the world title scene. Hotch had his big win over Ali for the international title, so that was his breakout. Hotch would definitely benefit winning here to show he isn’t a fluke, but I think his status with the fans would be okay if not. Skyler has been jobbed out for so long that losing again wouldn’t change any opinions on him. That leads me to Tasha Steelz. She pulled a power play using Zero. If Steelz fails, there is no more purpose for her. Pick: Agent Zero
TNA X-Division Championship: Cedric Alexander vs. Fabian Aichner vs. Rich Swann vs. KC Navarro vs. BDE vs. Ryan Nemeth for vacant title
Josh Jagler: I can’t see them going right back to Cedric here after just losing the title a few weeks ago. BDE and Ryan Nemeth honestly have no business winning the X-Division Title, so by process of elimination, I’m left with Aichner, Swann, and Navarro. Methinks this would be a good time to get Aichner his first championship since debuting in TNA earlier this year. Pick: Fabian Aichner
Sean Rueter: A somewhat unexpected win could be the thing this card needs, and push a guy crowds seem to be behind a little further up the card. Pick: KC Navarro
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Let’s go with a twist here. I don’t think many expect Swann to win. He is a respected veteran and former world champion, so he would have credibility as X-Division champion. Swann can wrestle the youngsters as challengers for valuable experience in their growth. Pick: Rich Swann
Eddie Edwards vs. Ricky Sosa
Josh Jagler: This will either be a crowning moment for Ricky Sosa or a harsh reminder that he still has a lot to learn. Either he cleanly beats a former TNA World Champion, or the System gets involved and turns it into a schmoz. With babyfaces winning in a few of my other predictions, I think this could be one where the heel prevails. Pick: Eddie Edwards
Sean Rueter: He could get screwed out of the win, but I’d play it safe and stick with having him run the gauntlet of veterans on his way to the top. Pick: Ricky (Bang Bang Sosa) Sosa
Manolo H. Pizzazz: x Pick: x
Call Your Shot Gauntlet (#1 is Trey Miguel, #20 is Joe Alonzo, Frankie Kazarian, Avery Styles, and more)
Josh Jagler: So many possibilities here, so I’m tempted to pick the field. Without a truly creative answer for who could fill one of the remaining spots and conceivably win, I’ll go with a safe pick that I think could be fun. Pick: Elias Ezekiel Elijah
Sean Rueter: Just because he seems like a good pick to be among the first batch of threats the new World champ deals with… Pick: Bear Bronson
Manolo H. Pizzazz: For the third year in a row. Pick: Frankie Kazarian
Moose vs. Max Caster
Josh Jagler: Moose is the ultimate company man for TNA, so I could genuinely see Max Caster picking up the win here to get his TNA run off on the right foot. Making it clear from the get-go that they’re taking Max’s character in a completely different direction from his last company would be a wise move. Pick: Max Caster
Sean Rueter: Please just pick the Greatest Wrestler Alive schtick going. Signed, a Max-a-maniac. Pick: Moose
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Caster will get speared while rapping for a squash. Pick: Moose
Knockouts Tag Team Championship: Allie & Kiera Hogan (c) vs. Zoey Serrano & Shayna Baszler
Josh Jagler: My pick here really relies on whether or not Shayna is going to be around full-time going forward. If this is just a one-off, Allie and Kiera should obviously retain. But if Shayna’s joining the TNA roster for an actual run, the former Pure Fusion Collective winning here would make a ton of sense. The Allie/Hogan partnership has been a weird one for me, and I think changing course with new champions could be the play here. Pick: Zoey & Shayna
Sean Rueter: I’m with Josh on his line of thinking, but I don’t think the Queen of Spades is here for the long haul. Pick: Allie & Kiera Hogan
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Allie is more unhinged since Rosemary went missing. I think that will factor into the result. Pick: Zoey Serrano & Shayna Baszler
