What is the story about?
AEW heads into Arena Mexico for the Grand Slam event on Wednesday night. The action started one day early for a select few on Tuesday (Aug. 4, 2026). There were ten matches on the evening with CMLL against a variety of international talent. Even though Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight made AEW proud, CMLL prevailed with six wins. Let’s run through the results with highlights of each finish.
- Kyle Fletcher defeated Mascara Dorada via brainbuster. Non-title bout for the AEW international champion.
- Kevin Knight retained the TNT Championship over Titan via UFO splash.
- ROH world champion Bandido lost to Barbaro Cavernario via low blow in a non-title bout. Referee Aubrey Edwards was duped by the caveman on his dirty deed.
- Soberano Jr. defeated Komander via piledriver with less than one minute remaining the 10-minute Lightning Match.
- In a clash between CMLL and the Callis Family, Ultimo Guerrero led his team to victory via octopus submission on Volador Jr. The rest of the teams were Neon, Xelhua, & Zandokan Jr. for CMLL and El Clon, Hechicero, & Brian Cage for La Familia Callis.
- Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja retained the NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championship over Douki & Yujiro Takahashi. Niebla Roja powerbombed Yujiro to send the House of Torture duo home empty-handed.
- Austin Aries did MLW right with a brainbuster victory over Esfinge in a Lightning Match.
- Calavera Jr. I & Calavera Jr. II surprised Blake Christian & Lee Johnson in tag team action. Christian was shoved off the turnbuckles, then Johnson was trapped in a bridging pin for the loss in a Lightning Match.
- Kira & Candela handled business against Maya World & Hyan in a Lightning Match. Kira secured the pin on Hyan via moonsault.
- Leon Cage represented RevPro well by beating Max Star via phoenix splash in a Lightning Match.
