Josh Hokit’s ‘big’ White House announcement has a lot of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans feeling burnt.
“The Incredible Hok” has been a controversial figure in the UFC heavyweight division since his arrival in 2025 but gained a lot of cred after a knock down drag out war with Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327. That bout was so wild that it earned Hokit a last-minute spot on the UFC White House card opposite Derrick Lewis.
That Fight of the Night (and Fight of the Month) had some questioning whether Hokit’s outside
the cage cringe was a worthwhile price to pay for how he fought. But paying attention to Hokit between fights can still be a frustrating experience as we just learned again.
On Saturday Hokit promised a ‘big White House fight announcement,’ setting off speculation that he might be stepping into an even bigger fight. What the announcement ended up being was a partnership with predictive market site ProphetX.
Good for Hokit getting that money but his followers weren’t impressed.
“Settings -> JoshHokitUFC -> mute,” one wrote. Another added, “You can fight but what a weirdo.”
“Embrace the cringe guys, he’s gonna win the belt,” one steadfast fan declared.
Hokit has our attention after that Blaydes fight, and is now in an excellent position to capitalize against the hot-and-cold (but mostly cold) Derrick Lewis on June 14th. It’ll take a while before we know whether he can hang with the actual contenders at the top of the division, and we’ll undoubtedly have to endure more of his lame hijinx along the way.
