In this year’s contest against Kentucky, the Wildcats won’t have the advantage of SEC play before facing Ole Miss. Each team is coming off a soft week 1, only problem is that Kroger Field is just not an easy place to play no matter how good or bad Kentucky is.
The Wildcats have arguably a better QB under center this year while Ole Miss seems to have a little worse defense, but ALL IS YET TO BE DETERMINED.
This week and throughout the season we turn to College Football 26 by EA Sports for a simulated
preview of the game. Last year they predicted a home dub against Kentucky and were wrong, lets see what they have for us this year:
Game Flow
The Rebels come out hot with a 14-0 lead with rushing touchdowns by Austin Simmons and Damien Taylor.
Kentucky responds with an identical 14-0 second quarter, leading the Rebel faithful dreading a repeat of last season.
Ole Miss wins the third quarter 10-7 with a touchdown pass by Austin Simmons.
Unfortunately, Kentucky walks it off at the buzzer with a 35-31 win.
The Stats
The turnovers told the story. While Kentucky took care of the ball, Ole Miss turned it over twice with an interception and fumble, both by Simmons.
The running game was held in check as well as Ole Miss had 122 yards to the Wildcats 134.
The worst part about all of this, the Rebels won basically every other category.
- 521 yards of offense to 378
- 82 plays to 65
- 27 first downs to 20
- 57% 3rd rate to 46%
- 3 RedZone touchdowns to one
Just a heartbreaking loss to start conference play and a shot at redeeming last years loss. Hopefully the Rebs follow suit from last season and do the opposite of the EA Sports prediction.
