Gerard Pique has been chatting about Real Madrid on social media amid regular complaints from Los Blancos about the standard of refereeing in La Liga.
Real Madrid TV often decides to attack match officials, while Jose Mourinho took aim at the referees after Friday’s defeat to Real Betis.
Pique has now got involved and says that Real Madrid have regularly had decisions go in their favor over the years.
“Yes, there’s only one way for Barça to win, and that’s by playing great football. That’s why we’re
known,” he said on TikTok (h/t Mundo Deportivo.)
“We’ve won many leagues, many Champions Leagues, and many trebles by playing great football. You’ve always brought up the issue of referees, and if you want, I’ll remind you of the Champions League final against Juve, Mijatovic’s goal, which was illegal.
“Or in one of the two finals against Atlético de Madrid, Sergio Ramos’ goal was offside, it was also illegal. So there are many refereeing errors, but , normally and historically, they have always gone a little more in favor of Real Madrid.”
Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal was also asked about Real Madrid complaints today at his pre-match press conference and had a pretty dignified response: “I don’t know, if they haven’t won in years, that’s their problem. Ask them. We’re happy with the refereeing.”
