After a hard fought, intense game against Manchester City only a couple of days ago, it’d be tempting for Regis Le Bris to rotate his squad a bit to prevent injuries and get some fresh legs into the team
– however the reality is we don’t have much room for manouvere, so in reality it’s going to be the same 13-14 players who’ve either started or played from the bench that we see in action today at the Spurs stadium. The biggest question mark surrounds Brian Brobbey, who came off on Thursday with a tight hammy, and whether we stick with the same formation we played against City. Here’s how I think we could line up.
Goalkeeper: Robin Roefs
Another superb display from Roefs – the fact only Arsenal and Manchester City have conceded fewer goals than us this season is testament to the impact he’s had, and the defence in front of him too.
Defence: Trai Hume, Nordi Mukiele, Omar Alderete, Dennis Cirkin
Geertruida dropped into right back against City as we played Trai Hume ahead of him – however I think we’ll go back to a regular back four today, with Hume in his more traditional role. Dan Ballard could be fit, however with two more games this week I suspect we’ll see him on the bench for this one, with Mukiele and Alderete continuing in the centre of the defence, and Dennis Cirkin getting a game – which will be brilliant for him as he returns to his former club. Cirkin looked every inch a Premier League quality full back against Manchester City, and he’ll be looking to build on that today.
Midfield: Lutsharel Geertruida, Granit Xhaka, Enzo Le Fee
If we play that four man defence, we’ll see Geertruida step back into midfield, alongside Granit Xhaka and Enzo Le Fee. Le Fee produced probably his best performance of the season against City, and he and Xhaka really added the intensity that was missing from the Leeds game. Same again today, please!
Forwards: Eliezer Mayenda, Brian Brobbey, Simon Adingra
Hopefully Brobbey will be fit enough to start today, and if so he will do – Wilson Isidor’s looked off the pace in recent weeks, and we need Brobbey’s hold up play. If he is fit, then expect Simon Adingra – who I thought played will again against City – to play on the left, with Elezier Mayenda on the right. If Brobbey doesn’t make it, Romaine Mundle will likely come in, with Mayenda playing through the middle.
