Great news for Barcelona fans: the long-awaited return of Marc Bernal is here as the young midfielder has received the medical green light after missing a full calendar year following surgery on an ACL tear.
Hansi Flick confirmed Bernal’s return to the squad in a press conference on Saturday ahead of the La Liga match against Valencia, but there is a bit of bad news as Frenkie de Jong will not be available as he recovers
from a glute issue.
“De Jong won’t be back tomorrow, but Marc will. He won’t be in the starting lineup. His next step in returning is to get better and better prepared. Tomorrow there will be all the excitement of being back with the team, and we have to manage that.”
Flick made it clear there will be zero rush with Bernal’s return and he’ll play very few minutes as he rebuilds his match fitness, but just the fact we’ll get to see one of the best midfield prospects Barça have produced in recent years back on the pitch is fantastic news.
