Fernando Mendoza is going to New York City.
No. 1 Indiana football’s quarterback has been named a finalist for the 2025 Heisman Trophy and will be in attendance for the ceremony in the Big Apple, per an announcement
on ESPN. The other finalists are Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.
Mendoza is currently the overwhelming favorite to win the award, with his odds skyrocketing after the Hoosiers’ Big Ten Football Championship game win on Saturday night.
Should Mendoza win the award, he’d become the first Heisman Trophy winner in Indiana’s history as a football program. He’s passed for 2,980 yards with 33 touchdowns and six interceptions, adding in 240 rushing yards and six scores on the ground.
Indiana will take on the winner of No. 9-seed Alabama and No. 8-seed Oklahoma on January 1 in the 2026 Rose Bowl.
