Erin Blanchfield vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius squared off in a Flyweight bout earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 17, 2026) inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for UFC Edmonton. In a major upset victory, Jasudavicius derailed her foe’s potential title shot and beat the grappler at her own game.
The two grapplers began the fight by boxing. Blanchfield worked to establish her jab, while Jasudavicius aimed to interrupt her with counters. Jasudavicius ducked a punch and landed the first takedown of the fight.
Blanchfield tried to pop back to her feet and gave up her back in the process! There was a brief choke attempt and then Blanchfield went to work on escaping the body triangle. She never managed to free herself, however, resulting in a clear opening round for the Canadian standout.
Blanchfield pushed forward to start the second, attempting a takedown of her own that didn’t go anywhere. Blanchfield landed a nice body kick in the center of the Octagon. Jasudavicious snatched up a single leg and jumped on the back a second time. This time, Blanchfield was able to prevent the body triangle and scramble right away. After a fun series of scrambles, Jasudavicius successfully took the back and locked up her body triangle. Jasudavicius attacked an arm triangle, transitioned to mount, and finished the round throwing shots from top position.
Blanchfield clearly needed a finish after 10 minutes of grappling action.
The final frame began with more pressure from Blanchfield, who landed a few nice right hands. She kept pushing and landed the heavier blows, but the clock was against her. Jasudavicius fired back often but wasn’t throwing with the same authority. Jasudavicius finally returned to her wrestling in the closing 90 seconds, eventually finishing a clinch takedown. Blanchfield scrambled into top position, but it was too little, too late.
All three judges awarded Jasudavicius the 29-28 victory.
Jasudavicius followed her game plan well to score a significant upset! I was quite impressed with Jasudavicius’s ability to scramble with Blanchfield, who is generally considered to be the more accomplished grappler and black belt. Her work to take the back repeatedly against a slick grappler was high-level stuff, and it just earned her the biggest win of her career!
Result: Jasudavicius defeats Blanchfield via unanimous decision
