Newcastle United’s long-running Bruno Guimaraes transfer saga is in the final stages and on its way to its official ending.
The latest reports point toward Arsenal having already arranged the midfielder’s medical. The development comes after weeks of negotiations and multiple conflicting reports announcing and denying club-to-club talks, and shortly after they came to an agreement with Newcastle for the €90 million transfer of the Brazil international on Friday.
The Daily Mail’s Isaan Khan confirmed
the original report by L’Equipe, reporting Arsenal’s transfer was edging toward completion heading into Saturday.
“It is understood that the fee agreed for the Newcastle captain is £77million plus add-ons,” Khan reported. “The 28-year-old’s contract has not yet been signed and finer details are to be sorted but Daily Mail Sport can confirm a deal is now very close.”
Meanwhile, Football365 was the outlet to report that Arsenal have scheduled a medical for the Brazil international after having agreed terms with Newcastle.
“Arsenal are edging closer to a deal for Bruno Guimaraes, with a journalist revealing that the Gunners have already ‘reserved a date’ for the Newcastle United midfielder to undergo a medical,” the report says.
Once finalized, Guimaraes would become Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer and the latest high-profile departure from St. James’ Park following Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
The move also comes just one day after Eddie Howe’s departure was officially confirmed by Newcastle, marking another chapter in what has become one of the most turbulent transfer windows in Newcastle’s recent history.
Newcastle are scheduled to host Arsenal on Nov. 23 in MD 11 of the Premier League.
