Didi Hamann has takes for days, but he also has some good analysis mixed in.
When assessing Bayern Munich’s interest in Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guéhi, Hamann has come to the conclusion that the English defender would be a good fit in Bavaria should Dayot Upamecano leave the club.
“Marc Guéhi has shown how good and important of a player he is for England and Crystal Palace. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are now interested in his services. Someone with those tremendous qualities and character,
available on a free transfer, is a no-brainer,” Hamann told JeffBet. “I know his mind was pretty much set on Liverpool last summer, but it may be hard to go back to that process again. He’s been an incredible professional, he’s still leading by example at Crystal Palace. Whoever signs Guehi will have a fantastic player.
“Guéhi is similar to the way Vincent Kompany was, a leader who scores big goals, loves to defend. Bayern want to keep Dayot Upamecano, but nothing advanced has been discussed yet, he could be a good replacement.”
Right now, the big questions is whether or not Upamecano is going to stick around. With no new developments in his contract standoff, just about anything can happen.
