Jake Paul is once again teasing a foray into the world of cage fighting, and he already has his first potential opponent picked out.
Paul has spent years beating up aged UFC legends in the boxing ring, and now he wants to round out his record with an MMA fight as well. He’s in the midst of promoting his first mixed martial arts card on Netflix May 16h, featuring Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. And on the undercard is Nate Diaz, whom Paul has revealed he still wants to fight.
“I want Nate in MMA,” Paul
told Theo Von in a recent video. “It’s high on my list of priorities, to do that.”
Paul and Diaz have already fought before in boxing, with “The Problem Child” beating Diaz convincingly with 98–91, 98-91, and 97–92 scores. Nate would later claim he was badly injured and didn’t bother to train for their fight.
“He probably wants a certain amount of money to take the risk of losing to me,” Paul added. “I think it’s gonna happen though.”
The one thing standing in the way of Paul vs. Diaz, according to Jake? Diaz’s current fight against “Platinum” Mike Perry on the Rousey vs. Carano undercard. Perry has built a name for himself as bare knuckle boxing’s ‘King of Violence,’ and we’d pick him over the inconsistent Diaz in a boxing match any day.
“I think he will [beat Perry],” Paul said. “I think he will take him down and submit him.”
Will Diaz really take down Perry, though? Logically, it makes sense for Nate to do that, but the younger Diaz brother is unpredictable in and out of a fight. He recently turned down a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor because he wants to fight Charles Oliveira. He turned down $15 million to fight Jake Paul in MMA years ago. And yeah, we wouldn’t be surprised if he refuses to take his fight with Perry to the ground.
If he manages to win on May 16th, though, Jake Paul says a Nate Diaz fight is his top priority.
“If he beats Perry, then me versus Nate is probably the number one thing on the list,” Paul said. “Above Tommy Fury, above Francis Ngannou, above KSI.”
Is it number one on Nate’s list, though?
