If you live anywhere near Philadelphia, you know what the theme of last night’s games are: rain. There was a lot of it. How did the minor leaguers cope?
Lehigh Valley 8, Columbus 7
‘Twas the Dylan Moore show. A four for five day for Moore in which he hit two home runs and drove in two RBI to lead the IronPigs to victory over the Clippers. Bryan de la Cruz chipped in with two doubles and three RBI, making it a veritable offensive explosion. Good thing too as the pitching in the form of Kolby Allard
(5 IP, 6 R) pretty much stunk.

If you’re into baseball cards at all, you know about the value of collecting a player’s first Bowman card. The first time they appear in their team’s uniform (and possibly autographing it) can bring back a huge amount of value if you can get it. Alex Binelas was a guy for a short time where getting his first Bowman was something you’d like to hang on to. Since then, he’s bounced around the minors from the Brewers organization to others, landing with the Phillies this year. He’s been serviceable for them and last night, he was more than that, going three for four with a home run and two RBI to lead the offense. On the pitching side, Luke Russo had a great start of six innings of shutout ball with nine strikeouts, the offense staking him to a 10-0 lead before the bullpen tried to blow it. They didn’t and the victory was had.

It’s time to start keeping an eye on Brad Pacheco. Like Ramon Marquez, Pacheco has begun to break out a bit, last night allowing only two baserunners in six innings while striking out seven. He’s been quite the find this year and has been on a roll for the Threshers. On offense, Robert Phelps had three hits, Nathan Humphreys had two hits and two RBI and Clearwater had the win.
