Barcelona boss Hansi Flick took a check on yet another La Masia starlet in training on Thursday as his team prepares to take on Valencia at the weekend.
The German coach called up 17-year-old Ïu Martínez to work with the senior squad at the Ciutat Esportiva.
Barcelona fans have been told to keep an eye on Martinez by Sport reporter Jaume Marcet, who thinks he could make it all the way into the first team.
“Pay a lot of attention to this player. A right winger who plays wonderfully on the left. A fast, powerful, hardworking ’11’ with the ability to dribble, assist, and score goals. This season he must be a key piece of Juvenil A,” he posted on X.
Here’s a look at some of his highlights.
Martinez was described as “the most underrated player in La Masia” last year by Sport. The report added that he’s a speedy winger and noted his “character, humility and competitive ability reminds us of Puyol’s.”
Definitely another player to keep an eye on at Barca.
