Malik Nabers caught six passes on nine targets for 69 yards for the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys, a successful return for Nabers from a torn ACL as the Giants won, 28-20.
How did the 23-year-old assess his performance?
“I’m rusty,” he said.
Nabers said he did too much “slipping, falling” while running routes during the game.
“Just got to get back into more of the football mentality of getting north,” Nabers said. “Just taking a picture of the defense, know where everybody’s at. I left some
yards out there, I left some plays out there. I feel like I could’ve scored on probably two of them if I just run straight, get more yards.
“So, I kind of think that was just the most frustrating thing about it, was just like I left a lot out there that I could’ve got.”
Nabers said he was never required to do anything “crazy” in his return.
“Whatever ball is being thrown, I feel like I can make those plays,” Nabers said. “And I feel like just – I never had to go up and make a crazy catch this week or, I mean, last week and do anything like spectacular. So, I mean, I’ll see when the ball is being thrown, I’ve got to make those catches.”
Nabers gets another opportunity to shake off the rust on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
