We have an interesting question for you this week. We are asking you to take a Pittsburgh Pirates player from the last 25 years and add them to this year’s roster. The only catch is that our content management system only allows for six answers, so you are beholden to the six players
that I selected.
Andrew McCutchen (MVP Version)

Jason Bay
- 2004 NL Rookie of the Year.
- Four straight 30-homer caliber seasons in Pittsburgh.
- Middle-of-the-order force.
Brian Giles
- One of the most underrated hitters in baseball.
- Outstanding OBP of .426 and 165 homers during his Pirates years.
Gerrit Cole
- Ace of teams that made the playoffs.
- Didn’t fully become “Gerrit Cole” until Houston, but he was excellent in Pittsburgh with a 3.50 EAR 1.27 WHIP.
Starling Marte
- Elite defender, baserunner, and hitter.
- Two Gold Gloves and one of the best all-around players of the era.
AJ Burnett
- 36-28 record with 3.34 ERA during Pirates year.
- 532 Ks in three seasons in Pittsburgh.
