Even though they’re coming off of one of their best performances of the 2025 season, you’d probably expect the Minnesota Vikings to be a significant underdog in a road game against a team that still finds
itself on the fringes of playoff contention, and that’s where they find themselves in this Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Our friends at the FanDuel Sportsbook have installed the Vikings as a 6.5-point underdog for their trip to Jerryworld on Sunday Night Football. The over/under for this one is a pretty high one, as that number currently sits at 47.5 points.
It makes sense to expect a high-scoring game where the Cowboys are involved. They come into this one as the #3 scoring offense in football, averaging 29.3 points a game and having put up at least 40 points three different times this year. They also bring the second-worst scoring defense in the NFL, allowing 29.7 points a game (only Cincinnati allows more) and having allowed at least 40 points on three separate occasions. That includes their last game, as they fell to Detroit on Thursday night by a score of 44-30, a loss that put a significant dent in their postseason hopes and stopped their three-game winning streak.
The Vikings are coming off only their second 30+ point performance of the season on Sunday, defeating the Washington Commanders 31-0 at U.S. Bank Stadium. They got their run game going and got the best performance of J.J. McCarthy’s career, as he threw three touchdown passes. . .all to tight ends. . .and did not turn the ball over in a very efficient performance. It will be interesting to see how he follows it up under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football this weekend.
The purple are a big underdog this Sunday, folks. Can they overcome it to put together what would be their first winning streak of 2025?
