Manuel Neuer surprised everyone when he suddenly became “fit” to play against Borussia Mönchengladbach but ended up with an injury to his calf during the match. The injury means he’s out of action for a stretch of important games.
Sky Sports journo Florian Plettenberg (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia) reported that Neuer will sit out the first leg against Italian side Atalanta in the Champions League and the match against Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, both away matches. The 39-year-old skipper
could also miss the return leg for the Atalanta tie and the Union Berlin match so he could maximize the international break to return to full fitness. He would then make his comeback on 4 April against Freiburg at the latest.
It sucks that Neuer is injured again, and that his time might be done at Bayern, but we all saw this coming when he got injured against Werder Bremen, was said to be out for a while, then suddenly he’s back? Again, rushing back players who just got back from injury is such a dumb move.
