The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears.
The big news is that veteran edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is ACTIVE despite being ruled questionable to play.
On Saturday, Greenard fully participated in practice for the first time since he suffered a pectoral injury ahead of training camp. One would imagine Greenard won’t be playing his normal workload in this debut. But the Eagles’ big offseason acquisition might still provide Philly’s
pass rush with a much-needed boost while operating in a limited role. Greenard is one of four active edge rushers with the others being Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and Arnold Ebiketie.
The following Eagles players WILL NOT PLAY: Dallas Goedert, Hollywood Brown, Fred Johnson, Tanner McKee, Cole Payton, and A.J. Epenesa.
Goedert, Brown, and Johnson were ruled out on the final injury report.
Goedert is dealing with a knee injury that will likely cause him to miss multiple games. In his absence, the Eagles temporarily elevated franchise legend Zach Ertz from the practice squad. It’s unclear how much of a factor Ertz will be in his first game coming back from an ACL injury that ended his 2025 season early. The feeling here is that he could still be a helpful player for this offense.
Brown was active for Week 1 but did not play any snaps. The Eagles made an effort to get him a little more involved in Week 2. His absence leaves the Eagles with the following active receivers: DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Britain Covey, and Elijah Moore. Moore is active for the first time this season after previously being a healthy scratch.
Fred Johnson’s absence means that Markel Bell is the swing tackle behind starters Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. It also means that rookie Micah Morris is active for the first time in his career. Willie Lampkin, Bell, and Morris are the three backups behind the Eagles’ starting five offensive linemen.
McKee is the Eagles’ emergency third quarterback once again with Andy Dalton serving as Jalen Hurts’ primary backup.
Payton is the Eagles’ fourth-string quarterback. Unlike McKee, he is ineligible to play in this game.
Epenesa is a healthy scratch after being active for the Eagles’ first two games. He was previously fourth in the edge rusher rotation and now he’s fifth with Greenard back.
Chance Campbell is active and will make his Eagles regular season debut after being temporarily elevated from the practice squad.
The Eagles are entering their second straight game with an open spot on the roster.
