With the summer months coming, Ohio State should start to see a lot of their spring recruiting efforts pay off in the form of commitments.
Hosting numerous prospects the last several weeks, it’s been clear this coaching staff has made some key moves for many of their top priorities. Last night’s success in the NFL Draft first round is further proof as to why Columbus is the place to develop.
The Buckeyes will learn their fate for one of their targets in the 2027 class when four-star defensive back,
Zayden Gamble shares his commitment on Saturday. The No. 176 player nationally and the 14th best safety per the 247Sports Composite, Gamble has been down to a list of four schools. He looks to have come to a quicker decision on where he feels is the best fit, moving up his original commitment date.
A 5-foot-11, 190 pound athlete out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s St. Thomas Aquinas, Gamble made a trek to Ohio State in March and made it known that his time is well spent, but it’s Notre Dame that has the lone Crystal Ball prediction in their favor. Just two defensive backs committed thus far for the Buckeyes, Ohio State is on the pursuit and Zayden is a definite take if he wants in.
Soon to find out whether Gamble is in or out, this coaching staff has plenty of options and is in good position to land another stellar group of defensive backs in 2027.
Official visit date set for North Carolina LB target
No decrease in recruiting efforts at all, the early summer weeks will be just as busy if not even more busy than the spring football opportunities. Ohio State’s coaching staff planning some major recruiting weekends in June, more and more names are showing up on the guest list for visits.
The latest coming on Thursday, Ohio State learned they will play host to AJ Randle Jr. in June. A 6-foot-3, 210 pound four-star linebacker out of Garner, North Carolina, AJ is the No. 94 player nationally and sixth best linebacker in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite.
A whopping 50-plus offers to his name, Randle Jr. is clearly one of the more coveted players in this cycle and Ohio State getting the chance to host him for an official visit speaks volumes to how well they have impressed him.
Making his official visit on June 12, AJ will also spend the previous weekends at South Carolina, NC State, Florida, and Miami. Following Ohio State, Georgia will also get him on campus the week after. No better time than now to pitch playing linebacker at Ohio State, the Buckeyes and James Laurinaitis have some incredible momentum for this position room, and prized recruits are taking notice.
