Two interior offensive linemen have landed among the moves in Foxborough.
The New England Patriots waived Mehki Butler and Alec Lindstrom as Tuesday’s roster deadline closes in, according to reports from MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
Butler, 24, signed with New England in May after participating in rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound undrafted guard earned NJCAA first-team All-America recognition at Iowa Western Community College in 2020 before transferring to Arkansas State.
After
redshirting, Butler started 38 games on the left side of the line for the Red Wolves. His rookie preseason brought 52 offensive snaps.
Lindstrom, 27, agreed to terms shortly after training camp opened in July. Undrafted in 2022 after twice earning first-team All-ACC honors and starting 36 games, the Boston College product spent his rookie year on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys. He later caught on with the Memphis Showboats. A training camp stint with the Los Angeles Rams followed in 2024 before joining the New York Jets, with whom he made his NFL debut on special teams.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Lindstrom returned to the UFL ranks in the spring and started 10 contests at center.
Active rosters around the NFL will be down to 53 by 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.
