The Green Bay Packers lost to the Carolina Panthers. It sucked. I don’t want to think about the game too deeply right now. Instead of breaking down the game, let’s just take you through the Packers’ Week 9 snap counts. We can start this week’s autopsy with who was on the field on offense and defense.
Quarterbacks
- 62 snaps: Jordan Love
- 0: Malik Willis
Running Backs
- 36: Josh Jacobs
- 21: Emanuel Wilson
- 11: Chris Brooks (8 SPT)
Chris Brooks broke double-digit offensive snaps for the first time since Week 2! He goes unnoticed often, but was on the field for a couple of the Packers’ limited explosive plays against the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Emanuel Wilson was very shaky in protection, particularly when Carolina sent blitzes up the middle.
Receivers
- 58: Romeo Doubs (3 SPT)
- 41: Christian Watson
- 27: Malik Heath (3 SPT)
- 22: Matthew Golden
- 19: Savion Williams (3 SPT)
Remember, Matthew Golden went down with an injury at one point in this game. That’s why Malik Heath played more snaps than him. It’s also worth noting that we saw a significant uptick in Savion Williams’ snaps in Week 9. Coming into the game, Williams was playing just 7.6 offensive snaps per contest.
Tight Ends
- 30: Luke Musgrave (3 SPT)
- 30: Tucker Kraft
- 18: John FitzPatrick
If you haven’t heard yet, I’m here to break the bad news that the belief is that Tucker Kraft tore his ACL against the Panthers. Luke Musgrave and John FitzPatrick have traded off as being TE2 throughout this season, so I don’t think it’s cemented that Musgrave will be the replacement starter in place of Kraft.
Another brutal gut punch is that the team lost TE Ben Sims when they subjected him to waivers last week, leading to him being claimed by the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to that, he would have been TE3 on the team. Now, look for practice squadder Josh Whyle, who was added to the team after roster cutdowns, to come up to the 53-man roster.
Offensive Linemen
- 63: Zach Tom (4 SPT)
- 63: Jordan Morgan (4 SPT)
- 63: Rasheed Walker (4 SPT)
- 63: Elgton Jenkins (4 SPT)
- 54: Sean Rhyan (4 SPT)
- 9: Aaron Banks
- 0: Darian Kinnard (4 SPT)
- 0: Anthony Belton (4 SPT)
Aaron Banks went down with yet another injury in this game. This one is being called a stinger, but he’s dealt with back, ankle, groin and shin injuries already this year. In 2024, he missed action with the San Francisco 49ers with a season-ending MCL injury and a concussion, but also played the season with a broken finger. The often-injured left guard was replaced by Sean Rhyan on Sunday.
Defensive Ends
- 49: Micah Parsons
- 39: Rashan Gary
- 24: Kingsley Enagbare (4 SPT)
- 1: Barryn Sorrell
- 0: Arron Mosby (12 SPT)
The Packers never said that Barryn Sorrell was injured, but his playing time tanked against the Panthers. Previously, he was rotated in more at both defensive end and as a “Cheetah package” defensive tackle. He also has contributed on special teams throughout the year, which seemed to end with today’s game.
Defensive Tackles
- 38: Karl Brooks (10 SPT)
- 37: Devonte Wyatt (3 SPT)
- 14: Colby Wooden
- 14: Nazir Stackhouse (3 SPT)
Because of Colby Wooden’s injury and Nazir Stackhouse only being able to play so many snaps right now, Devonte Wyatt, who is still only a limited participant in practice due to his own knee injury, had to take on a lot more consecutive snaps this week. This defensive tackle room is beat up right now, and it doesn’t help that defensive end Lukas Van Ness, who often kicks in to the interior, is also out with a foot injury.
Linebackers
- 54: Edgerrin Cooper (3 SPT)
- 54: Quay Walker (3 SPT)
- 17: Isaiah McDuffie (12 SPT)
- 0: Ty’Ron Hopper (9 SPT)
- 0: Kristian Welch (9 SPT)
Cornerbacks
- 54: Keisean Nixon (3 SPT)
- 41: Carrington Valentine (6 SPT)
- 17: Nate Hobbs: 17 (2 SPT)
- 0: Bo Melton (2 offense, 6 SPT)
- 0: Kamal Hadden
It was mostly Carrington Valentine at outside cornerback this week, but Nate Hobbs did get some looks there. Hobbs also played four snaps in the slot, too. Kamal Hadden continues to make the gameday roster as an emergency cornerback. He’s only played five special teams snaps all season and hasn’t gotten on the field as a defender.
Safeties
- 54: Xavier McKinney (5 SPT)
- 47: Evan Williams (3 SPT)
- 40: Javon Bullard (6 SPT)
- 0: Zayne Anderson (9 SPT)
- 0: Kitan Oladapo (5 SPT)
It’s still a timeshare at the safety position between Evan Williams and Javon Bullard, but Williams seemed to play most of the snaps off the ball this week, allowing Bullard to continue his role in the slot.
