Barcelona will take on Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after both teams booked their place in the last eight of the tournament.
Hansi Flick’s side smashed Newcastle 7-2 at Camp Nou to progress 8-3 on aggregate, while Atletico despatched lost 3-2 to Tottenham but progressed 7-5 on aggregate to set up a date with their Spanish rivals.
The game will be a repeat of the recent Copa del Rey semi-final between the two sides. Barcelona will need no reminding they lost the first
leg 4-0 in the Spanish capital before winning the return 3-0 at Camp Nou.
Fermin Lopez spoke about the prospect of facing Atletico again after beating Newcastle.
“There’s no desire for revenge against Atlético. They’re a great team,” he said.
“They’ll certainly make it very difficult for us. We know what they’re capable of. We’ll learn from what happened and hopefully have a good tie and advance to the next round.”
The two games will take place after the international break. Barcelona will be at home for the first leg and away for the return.
