Always a good time to follow Ohio State recruiting, the Buckeyes have seen a ton of positives as of late, which included their latest 2027 commitment earlier this week. Efforts paying off and further proof to the NFL factory Ohio State is, top talented recruits all over the country and paying attention to all that’s going on in Columbus.
Ohio State offers 2028 five-star OT
Offensive line a major theme this offseason when it comes to recruiting, Ohio State has put in a ton of time at recruiting not only this current 2027 class, but the future
cycles as well. Seeing multiple commitments in the past few weeks, Tyler Bowen is doing a great job at attracting talent and keeping the best in-state guys at home. Looking toward the 2028 class with a majority of his work in 2027 done, new names are starting to surface.
A new offer by way of the Buckeyes, Ohio State gave the good news to California native Austin Attalah. A 6-foot-8, 270 pound offensive tackle, Attalah is the No. 27 player nationally and third best at his position per the 247Sports Composite.
Already over 20 offers to his name, schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and more are in the mix and now that includes the Buckeyes. Like any recruitment, the goal from here is to get Austin on campus in order to be a real player for his services.
Ohio State likes what they see from 2028 tight end prospect
Staying on the offensive side of the ball, the Buckeyes have a new offer out at the tight end position to New Jersey native, Quinn Weber. A younger prospect, Weber is a 6-foot-5, 210 pound athlete and is not yet ranked via his 247Sports profile, but seeing multiple new offers coming his way this week, his stock is gaining traction and that includes Ohio State.
Early interest from Duke and West Virginia, now Ohio State and SMU are also on his offer list. Impressing enough to catch the attention of the Buckeyes, position coach Keenan Bailey is liking what he sees. Fresh off an NFL Draft that saw both of their tight ends taken, the recruiting pitch for Bailey and his room is pretty simple.
Ohio State still in the mix for QB ready to make a decision
For a substantial timeframe, Ohio State has had Brady Edmunds as the committed quarterback for their 2027 class. Family ties and more, the relationship between the two sides has been strong and that’s been seen with Brady’s efforts as the vocal leader of this recruiting class as a whole.
Still, the Buckeyes have to do what is best for the program overall and if that means entertaining another top caliber signal caller that has interest then so be it. In the case of Wonderful “Champ” Monds, the Vero Beach, Florida native is one of the top uncommitted players remaining at the position and has a commitment date set now for May 1.
Ohio State is one of the three finalists, as Monds has Florida State and Notre Dame as the other two schools in the fold he will make a decision between. The No. 264 player nationally and the 20th best quarterback in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, Monds was on campus to see Ohio State as recent as April 4, and certainly has the Buckeyes at the forefront of his mind.
Notre Dame does have the lead per the Crystal Ball predictions, but Florida State and Ohio State shouldn’t be counted out. Where matters can get very interesting is if he does want in the class giving the Buckeyes two at the position.
A situation that has happened before, Ohio State and Ryan Day will learn their fate Friday.
Quick Hits
Ohio State coaches hitting the road, Cortez Hankton made his way to Corona, California this week to check in on receiver target Blake Wong. The No. 338 player nationally and the 43rd best receiver in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, Wong gave a top five earlier this month that included the Buckeyes.
Hankton making the trek out to see him shows the interest Ohio State has in making him a part of this class if they’re able.
Another top schools list to drop, Ohio State finds their name in the mix for defensive back Jayden Aparicio-Bailey. A four-star out of Prattville, Alabama, Jayden is the No. 133 player nationally and ninth best safety in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite.
Ohio State is joined by Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and South Carolina in his top five.
