Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou WBB
The Mizzou Women’s Basketball season has come to a close. After a first-round 67-57 road win over Seton Hall, the Tigers fell to top-seeded BYU in Provo on Monday night as Kellie Harper’s first season as head coach finishes at 17-17 overall.
So, it’s offseason for both Mizzou Hoops programs with good recruiting classes coming in. What’s next for some Mizzou Athletics programs? We’ve entered spring sports season with both diamond sports needing
to bounce back after 1-5 starts to conference play.
All eyes will be on Mizzou Gymnastics as the calendar turns to April — who have earned the No. 8 National Seed — and the No. 2 seed in the Lexington Regional.

It’ll be weird to not see him in black and gold next year, as he’s become that much a part of the program in my mind. But he left the program a better place than he found it, and that’s all you can ask.
Thanks for everything, Mark Mitchell! True Son.
For my last piece, I picked Reisma as my “Player to Watch”. In turn she scored 17 points and was a key part in Mizzou’s win over Seton Hall. This time, let’s see if this honor can bestow Dowell with that same luck.
Dowell scored in double-figures but ended up with 11 points to close out her junior season.
This edition of Photos of the Week is all about Dan Murphy’s coverage of the Tigers’ first round game against Miami. The outcome definitely wasn’t what Mizzou fans wanted, but Dan came back with a lot of work he should be proud of. Hopefully seeing some nice photo work helps to soothe the sting of the end of the season.
Despite the tough loss to end the season, plenty of great photos from Dan’s coverage at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
“We’re operating at a super high level,” Shannon told the crowd, “But there’s room for growth, and I think we’re going to see that as we hit the next couple of weekends as we work our way through the month of April.”
Mizzou Gymnastics is heading into the NCAA Regionals with high expectations — per usual. Karen’s SEC Championships recap is incoming.
This marked the final time that Jordana Reisma, Smith and Saniah Tyler would play for Mizzou as the season officially comes to a close. I’ll have a full breakdown on the season and what comes next on the site within the week, so stay tuned. But until then, a year of growth comes to an end with the team’s first postseason appearance/win in since the 2022-23 season.
Plenty to look forward to for the Mizzou WBB program.
- Over at Rock M+: We’re entering offseason coverage with transfer portal news on the SEC, plus insight on Mizzou Hoops target Quentin Coleman.
And on the football side, ICYMI over the weekend, Mizzou landed Northern Illinois transfer Mark Hensley.
