The Rockies (40-105) will try to avoid a sweep when they take on Los Angeles (81-64) at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night before heading to San Diego for a four-game series against the Padres.
Kyle Freeland (4-14, 5.10 ERA), who is coming off an outstanding start when he threw eight shutout innings against the Padres, will be on the mound for the Rockies. Freeland’s performance earned his first win since Aug. 12 and helped to make up for being ejected eight pitches into his previous start against the Giants
on Sept. 2. Freeland also did well in his last outing against the Dodgers, holding L.A. to two runs on six hits in four innings with five strikeouts before having to leave the game with a blister on his finger.
Blake Snell (3-4, 3.19 ERA) will get the start for the Dodgers. Snell has missed a large portion of the season, not making a start from April 3 to Aug. 1 with left shoulder inflammation. Snell has looked like his All-Star self for many of those starts, but not his last one when he gave up five runs on nine hits in five innings with three walks and six strikeouts against the Padres.
