2029 RB discusses Michigan visit
Despite the loss to Iowa, the Michigan Wolverines seemed to have a successful recruiting day. Most visitors were from the 2028 class, but they also welcomed 2029 running back William Green
III out of Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas. He left Ann Arbor with a scholarship.
“Just being around the atmosphere on game day, meeting the coaching staff, sitting down and having that conversation with Coach Alford, it was really great, and I just left feeling like Michigan was a really special place,” Green told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($).
Now that Green has experienced what a game day looks like at Michigan, he can see himself in the maize and blue.
“Thinking, realizing and looking back, if one day this could be me in the stadium, it was just a really special moment for me,” he said.
Green is clearly feeling good about his visit and potential future with Michigan, but one back that he has looked up to is actually from Ohio State.
“Ezekiel Elliott, that’s one of the backs that I looked up to my whole life, which was one of the reasons that Ohio State was big for me,” he said. “But as I got older, I realized who coached him and who was all behind that, and it was Coach Alford. And then, when he made the switch to Michigan, it became so much more of a top school for me, more of a priority.”
Position coach Tony Alford has done a fantastic job recruiting talent to Michigan and producing elite running backs, and Green has taken notice.
2029 OL high on Michigan after visit
Another 2029 recruit who was in town for the Iowa game is four-star offensive lineman Jordan Lewis. If he went to Michigan, he would immediately be a fan favorite because of his name, and after visiting, he’s pretty high on the Wolverines.
“As soon as I got there, they were welcoming of course,” Lewis told On3’s McDowell ($). “The stadium was unreal.”
The environment for that Iowa game was definitely special. In fact, Lewis said it might be the loudest place he’s ever been.
“That might have been the loudest place I’ve ever heard,” Lewis said. “I think it said it was like 111,000. That’s unreal for a college football team. I know they lost, but I can tell the fans are truly crazy about Michigan.”
Many recruits in this era are going to go to the place that offers the most money, but that’s not the case for Lewis.
“I’m not looking for the money,” he said. “I’m not looking for none of that. I’m looking to build relationships and find a program that truly cares for me and that will be a home after football because football don’t last forever. …They fit it in the best way possible.”
Lewis is the No. 22 player in his class, and he attends Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina.
