Since roundabouts in Mississippi have become heavily associated with Oxford, I figured we could have a weekly roundabout here. On our first exit we will look around the SEC. If we keep going straight we will look at the upcoming Rebel games across all sports. The third turn will look at some of the Rebel sports that aren’t currently in season while our u-turn will take a glance at the previous week.
Exit 1: Around the SEC
Florida at No. 7 Texas: 11:00 am on ABC. Can the Gators get competitive or will the Longhorns get back
on track?
No. 16 Mississippi State at No. 22 LSU: 11:00 am on ESPN. The Bulldogs avoid a night game in Death Valley coming off a bye week. Both teams are looking to get back in the win column and keep playoff hope alive.
The Citadel at Texas A&M: 12:00 pm on SEC Network. The Aggies will find their way back into the win column thanks to a semi-bye week
Auburn at No. 1 Georgia: 2:30 pm on ESPN. A rivalry renewed between the hedges. The Dawgs escaped the Tide but should have an easier time taming the Tigers at home.
No. 6 Alabama at No.14 Tennessee: 2:30 pm on ABC. It’s the third Saturday in October so anything is possible. Someone is taking a second loss and Tennessee will look to prove they belong.
Arkansas at Vanderbilt: 6:00 pm on ESPN2. A battle for the bottom. Who could avoid potentially finishing last in the SEC this season?
No. 15 Kentucky at Oklahoma: 6:30 pm on SEC Network. What a game for both teams. Coming off massive wins for both programs, who can maintain the momentum?
Exit 2: Upcoming Games
Thursday October 15
Women’s Soccer vs Missouri at 6:00 pm on SEC Network
Men’s Basketball exhibition at Alabama at 8:00 pm on SEC Network
Friday October 16
Volleyball vs Georgia at 6:00 pm on SEC Network+
Saturday October 17
Football vs No. 13 Missouri at 2:30 on ESPN
Sunday October 18
Volleyball vs South Carolina at 12:00 pm on SEC Network
Women’s Soccer vs Oklahoma at 3:00 on SEC Network+
Exit 3: Basketball Media Days
SEC Media days for the Men’s and Women’s basketball programs took place yesterday. Chris Beard was joined by Patton Pinkins, Budd Clark and Roman Siulepa. Pinkins is joined by Ilias Kamardine and Zach Day as the only returners to the roster. The Preseason Coaches’ Poll has Ole Miss at 13th in the SEC.
The Women’s team had Coach Yo joined by Talaysia Cooper, Lauren Jacobs and Jada Richard. The Women’s program only has two returning players, neither of which were a starter last season. Hopefully an emphasis on shooting will compliment the defensive style this season.
Exit 4: A Look Back
On the scoreboard, Ole Miss dominated Vanderbilt the way a top 10 team should. It was heavily inflated by a flurry of scores in the final minute of the first half. The wet conditions could have led to Trinidad’s worst efficiency game of the season, but he still lit up the scoreboard. The defense did a better job at times, but there is still plenty to be fixed. Edwin Joseph’s injury will be a factor going forward, but every team has injuries. Six straight wins over Vandy and not losing two straight…. solid Saturday.
